Lugano airport (LUG) 

 

Lugano Airport, opened on August 12, 1938, is an air terminal in Switzerland, located close to the Italian border. It operates with domestic flights and some international destinations in Europe.

Annual passenger traffic: More than 160,000 passengers went through it in 2015.

The airport is located in the village of Agno, 3 km (2 miles) to the west of Lugano.

Bus - Shuttle Bus Sagl (Tel +41 792 214 243) operates a regular service between the airport, the train station and the city centre, in connection with flight departures and arrivals, from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm (10:00 am to 6:30 pm on Sundays). Different stop requests can be made in advance. Timetable and fares

Train - Ferrovie Luganesi (Tel +41 919 232 392) links the airport with Lugano central station. The nearest stop is found in Agno, 10 minutes away from the terminal. Trains leave every 15-30 min. between 6:25 am and 8:10 pm. Other destinations include Magliaso, Caslano, Ponte Tresa, Serocca, Bioggio, Molinazzo, Cappella Agnuzzo, Laghetto and Sorengo.

Taxi - Cabs available outside the main building from 7:30 am to 9:30 pm. The trip to the city centre takes 10-15 minutes. Reservations at Tel +41 916 052 510.

The airport has an ATM, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access. Aeroclub Lugano, opposite the terminal, and World Trade Center Lugano, 5 minutes away, provide meeting and conference rooms. 30 meters away from the main entrance, and open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, is the E-Aviation VIP Lounge; it offers TV, workstations, refreshments, air conditioning, drinks, newspapers and magazines, telephones, conference facilities, fax, Wi-Fi.

Food and Drinks- There is a restaurant and a bar in the Departures lounge.
Shopping- Duty-free stores in the Arrivals and Departures areas, and newsagents.
Baggage- Left luggage service in the check-in area, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm (Tel +41 916 101 282). Lost and found office in the Arrivals area, available from 8:00 am to 9:30 pm (Tel +41 916 101 220).

Car parks are located 100 meters from the terminal entrance. Fees

P1 - Facility for long-term parking, fully automated and monitored by CCTV. There are also charging stations for electric vehicles.
P2 - For stays of up to 90 minutes.

If you should require special assistance or wheelchairs, inform your airline about your particular needs at the time of your booking or at least 48 hours before your flight. Unaccompanied minors up until 12 years old will be assisted by the airport staff until boarding the plane, when the airline crew will take over.
