Geneva Airport, also known as Cointrin Airport and opened on October 11, 1919, is a frontier airstation between Switzerland and France that can be accessed from both countries. It operates with domestic and international flights to destinations in Europe, Northern Africa, the Middle East, China and North America.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Terminals 1 and 2 (only used for seasonal charter flights during the winter), open from 4:00 am to 0:00 am and situated next to each other.

Geneva airport is located 5 km (3 miles) northwest from the city.

Bus - There are several services from Unireso (Tel +41 900 022 021) that operate every 8-15 minutes from the check-in level. You only need one ticket to travel by train, tram, bus or boat in the area of France-Vaud-Geneva, and this can be acquired at machines located at the stops and at the train station. Fares from €2.10. Line 5 - runs to Gare Cornavin, in the city centre, in 20 min., and there you can make connections to other cities, and then goes on to Thônex-Vallard via Palexpo, Nations, Rive and Malagnou; 10 - links the enclosure with Balexert, Cornavin, Bel-Air and Rive; 23 - to Blandonnet, Lignon, Aïre, Grand-Lancy and ZIPLO; 28 - from Parfumerie to Jardin-Botanique, stopping at the airport and at Vernier, Blandonnet, Fret, Grand-Saconnex and Nations; 57 - goes to Blandonnet, Hôpital de La Tour and Meyrin; Y - headed for Ferney-Voltaire, Grand-Saconnex, Blandonnet, CERN and Val Thoiry. There are also travels to several French cities provided by different private companies, including Annecy, Bonneville, Chambéry, Chamonix, Cluses, Grenoble, Saint-Gervais, Morzine, Tarentaise.

Train - The trip to downtown Geneva takes 6 minutes and trains from SBB (Tel +41 900 300 300) depart every 12 min. from the airport station, which has direct access to the check-in and Arrivals levels. All trains stop at Cornavin, where you can make connections with the Swiss and European rail network. Tickets can be bought at the station itself or at the baggage reclaim area.

The airport has a bank, currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, post office, VIP lounges, photocopying services, charging and workstations, public telephones, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access free of charge for 90 minutes. Conference rooms in several nearby hotels.

Food and Drinks- Restaurants, fast food outlets, cafés, bars, tea rooms scattered throughout the enclosure.
Shopping- Duty-free shops, sweets, fashion, accessories, jewellery, perfumes, cosmetics, electronics, music, souvenirs, flowers, press, tobacco.
Baggage- Porter service. Secure luggage wrapping in the check-in area, from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm (Tel +39 331 789 141). Lockers and left luggage service in the train station, from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm (Tel +41 512 252 380 / 211). Lost and found office in the public area, Mondays through Fridays between 7:30 am and 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (Tel +41 225 460 900).
Other Services- Photo booths, travel agencies, prayer room, showers, smoking lounge, children's play areas, baby changing facilities, first aid clinic, pharmacy.


There are short- and long-term car parks, in addition to charging stations for electric vehicles and a passenger drop-off area on the Departures level. P1 - Covered parking for long stays with direct access to Terminal 1.
P51 - For long-term stays, mostly covered, 500 meters away.
P26, P31, P32 - Partially covered, for long periods, next to the train station.
P20 - Covered, for long stays, situated in the French sector.
P2 - Area for short stays with direct access to the main building. The first 10 minutes have no charge.


The airport staff provides assistance to disabled and mobility-impaired passengers as they work their way through the terminal. Please inform your travel agency or airline about your needs at least 48 hours in advance. The car parks have reserved spaces.
