Tenerife South Airport, or Reina Sofía International Airport, was opened on October 23, 1978. Together with Tenerife North Airport, it concentrates most of the air traffic in the Canary Islands, being one of the busiest in Spain. It operates with domestic and international flights to destinations within Europe.

The airport is situated 60 km (37.5 miles) southwest from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 10 minutes away from the tourist locations of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas.

Bus - TITSA (Tel +34 922 531 300) operates line 343, which directly connects Tenerife North and Tenerife South airports, with no intermediate stops and a journey time of 50 minutes. Buses run between 6:49 am and 9:43 pm and the ticket has a cost of €9.70. You can also reach Costa Adeje (€3.70) and Puerto de la Cruz (€13.55). Bus 111 travels to the capital, Santa Cruz, with a fare of €9.35, and the island's main beaches, like Los Cristianos (€3.20) and Costa Adeje, stopping at Santa María del Mar, Tabaiba, Candelaria, Punta Prieta, Los Chasneros, Tajao and Parque de la Reina. It operates every 30 min., 24 hours a day. Route 450 goes to the city of Granadilla (€2.45) and surrounding beaches, which include Los Cristianos, Costa Adeje, San Isidro and Playa de las Américas (€3.20), between 6:56 am and 8:46 pm Mondays through Fridays and from 7:26 am to 7:36 pm on weekends and holidays. Line 415 runs between San Isidro and El Fraile, stopping at Golf del Sur, Los Cardones, Costa San Miguel, Ribazul y La Paz. More information

Taxi - Cabs from Official Taxi Tenerife (Tel +34 922 397 074 / 475) are available outside the Arrivals area. Avoid drivers offering their services outside this zone. Extra charges are applied for travelling during the night (10:00 pm to 6:00 am), on Sundays and holidays. The trip to Santa Cruz has a fare of €160.00 and takes 45 minutes.

The airport has a bank (Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm), ATMs, currency exchange bureaus (5:30 am to 11:00 pm), post office, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access free of charge. There are meeting rooms in the Departures area. The Sala Montaña Roja lounge, situated on floor 1, in the passenger-only area, opens on Mondays from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, Fridays from 7:00 am to 0:00 am and Sundays from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm; the maximum stay is 4 hours and it provides newspapers, TV, computers, Wi-Fi, catering, air conditioning (access with Priority Pass, DragonPass or Diners Club membership, through online booking or by paying at the door - €25.40).

Food and Drinks- On the ground floor there are bars, coffee shops, fast food outlets, icecream stores and restaurants. Caffé Ritazza and Café & Tapas, in the Departures area, are open 24 hours a day. There are also vending machines throughout the enclosure.
Shopping- Duty-free shops on levels 0 and 1, newsagents, books, sweets, fashion and accessories, electronics, souvenirs.
Baggage- Wrapping machines in the check-in area. Lost and found office in the Arrivals Hall, available around the clock (Tel +34 922 759 785).
Other Services- Children's play areas, prayer rooms, gas station, travel agencies, showroom, pharmacy.

Facilities include access ramps, elevators, accessible restrooms and telephones, and reserved parking spaces. Most air companies offer escort services for children between 5 and 12 years old travelling alone. Remember to inform your airline about your particular needs at least 48 hours in advance.
