Palma de Mallorca Airport, also known as Son Sant Joan International Airport and opened on July 7, 1960, is the third busiest in the country. It operates with domestic and international flights to several destinations in Europe and Northern Africa.

The airport is located 8 km (5 miles) to the east of the city centre.

Bus - Line 1 from Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Palma (Tel +34 971 214 444) connects the airport with the main tourist spots in the city and with the promenade (Palau de Congressos, Plaça d'Espanya, Passeig Mallorca, La Feixina, Auditòrium, Can Barberà, Club de Mar, Port de Palma, Portopí, Dic de l'Oest), with stops in front of the Arrivals and Departures levels. It departs every 15 minutes between 6:00 am and 1:10 am (1:50 am from May 1st to October 31st). The cost of the ticket is €5.00 and journey time is 30 min. Line 21 runs every 30 min. to different hotels in Palma beach and to S'Arenal, with a fare of €5.00. It operates from 7:00 am to 0:30 am (10:10 pm between November 1st and April 30th). Intermediate stops include Tramuntana, Manuela de los Herreros, Ses Fontanelles, Marbella, Llaüt and Plaça dels Nins. There are also services to different areas of the island.

Taxi - Ranks are situated outside the Arrivals area. Avoid drivers offering their services outside this point. The trip to the city centre takes around 15 minutes and the minimum fare is €3.12, with extra charges during the night (from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am), Saturdays from 2:00 pm and holidays. The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureaus (8:00 am to 0:00 am), post office, mailboxes, conference rooms, VIP lounges, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access free of charge.

Food and Drinks- Throughout the enclosure there are numerous bars, fast food outlets, coffee shops and restaurants. Medas Ready to Eat, Espression Lavazza and Farggi are open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Duty-free shops on the fourth floor of the terminal and on level 1 of modules A, C and D. There are also multi-stores and retailers selling sweets, jewellery, fashion and accessories, press, gifts, electronics.
Baggage- Wrapping machines in the check-in area, level 2. Lost and found office in the Arrivals Hall, Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (Tel +34 971 789 456).

There are several car parks for short and long stays, open around the clock and with security personnel. Rates and reservations

Parking general - Multi-storey facility in front of the main building, ideal for stays of up to 4 days. It has access to the Arrivals and Departures Halls through tunnels. Premium spaces on floor 4.
Parking general H - Outdoor parking situated 700 meters away from the complex.
Parking de larga estancia - Long-term lot situated a few minutes away from the terminal and connected through a free shuttle service. With charging stations for electric vehicles.
Parking express - Adjacent to the terminal. The first 15 minutes have no charge.
Parking VIP - Exclusive car park with restricted access and valet parking service in front of the exit gate (Tel +34 648 958 136).
Abonados Público - For stays of more than a month, located on levels 5 and 6 of the garage.

 

The enclosure has lifts, ramps, accessible restrooms and designated parking spaces. You can request cabs adapted for the transport of passengers with reduced mobility by calling Tel +34 971 703 529. Contact your airline in advance if you should require special assistance. Children between 5 and 12 years old travelling alone will be escorted from the check-in area until their destination by the airline crew.
