Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, opened in 1965, is the largest in Romania. It operates with domestic and international flights to the main destinations in Europe, the Middle East and North America.

Annual passenger traffic: More than 12.8 million passengers went through it during 2017.

The airport is located 16 km (10 miles) to the north of Bucharest.

Bus - Line 780 from RATB (Tel +40 213 074 180) is an express service between the airport and the city's main train station, Gara de Nord, that departs from 5:30 am to 11:00 pm. Intermediate stops include Amco, Aleea Privighetorilor, Baneasa Airport, Piata Presei and Clabucet. Express bus 783 runs to the city centre every 40 minutes between 0:30 am and 11:45 pm, going through Icsitmua, Amco, Aleea Privighetorilor, Baneasa Airport, Piata Presei, Docentilor, Piata Victorei, Piata Romana, Piata 21 Decembrie 1989 and Piata Unirii. Stops are located in front of the Arrivals and Departures areas and journey time varies between 30 and 60 min.

Train - Shuttle buses leave from the Arrivals area to the train station from 5:44 am to 9:19 pm, and there you can board services from Henri Coanda Express (Tel +40 213 145 528) to Gara de Nord, inside the city, with a trip of 70 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at the office situated in the International Arrivals Hall. Other destinations include Urziceni, Galati and Slobozia Veche.

Taxi - You can request cabs by using touch screens located in the Arrivals area. Ranks are found opposite the terminal, on the ground floor. Travel time to downtown Bucharest is around 40 minutes and has a fare of €6.00-15.00.

The airport has a bank (Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm), ATMs, currency exchange bureaus (24 hours a day), post office, VIP lounges, public telephones and Wi-Fi access free of charge. Meeting and conference rooms at the nearby Angelo Hotel.

Food and Drinks- In the Departures area there are coffee shops, restaurants, bars, icecream stores and fast food outlets, while in the International Arrivals Hall there is a café. Most options are open around the clock.
Shopping- Duty-free articles, newsagents, books, perfumes, cosmetics, sweets, spirits, tobacco, accessories, souvenirs, toys, handicrafts, jewellery, flowers. Supermarket on the ground floor of the Arrivals area.
Baggage- Trolleys available for free. Secure luggage wrapping in the check-in area. Lost and found office in the baggage reclaim area, open Mondays through Fridays between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm (Tel +40 212 041 069 / 786 137 134).

Facilities include designated parking spaces, access ramps, elevators, automatic doors, and adapted restrooms and telephones. Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs should notify their airline or travel agency about their needs at the time of their booking.
