Bucharest Aurel Vlaicu Airport, also known as Baneasa Airport and opened on August 1, 1912, is the oldest in Romania. Currently it only operates with charter and private flights.

The airport is located in the Baneasa district, 8 km (5 miles) to the north of Bucharest.

Bus - RATB (Tel +40 213 074 180) operates several services from the airport between 4:00 am and 11:00 pm, with 10-20 minute intervals. Line 131 - Piata Romana, Piata Victoriei, Soseaua Kiseleff, Piata Presei Libere, Soseaua Bucuresti-Ploiesti; 335 - Barajul Dunarii, Bulevardul Nicolae Grigorescu, Soseaua Iancului, Soseaua Stefan cel Mare, Calea Dorobantilor, Soseaua Kiseleff, Piata Presei Libere, Soseaua Bucuresti-Ploiesti; 148 - Piata Presei Libere, Soseaua Bucuresti-Ploiesti; 112 - Soseaua Pipera, Bulevardul Aerogarii; 301 - Piata Victoriei, Bulevardul Aviatorilor, Bulevardul Aerogarii. The 783 express service leaves from 0:30 am to 11:45 pm and also reaches the city centre, with stops at Piata Presei Libre, Piata Victoriei and Piata Unirii. The trip takes around 30 min. and the bus stop is located in front of the airport.

Tram - Line 5 from RATB (Tel +40 213 074 180) connects the airport with the city centre from 5:00 am to 10:30 pm, with frequencies of 10-20 minutes.

Metro - The M2 service from Metrorex (Tel +40 213 193 601) runs from Pipera to Aurel Vlaicu Station between 5:00 am and 11:30 pm, and then on to Piata Victoriei, Piata Romana, Piata Unirii, Tineretului, Eroii Revolutiei, Piata Sudului and Berceni.
