Cristiano Ronaldo Madeira Airport, also known as Funchal Airport or Santa Catarina Airport and opened on July 18, 1964, is one of the busiest in Portugal and serves the island of Madeira. It operates with domestic flights and international destinations within Europe.

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureau (9:00 am to 7:00 pm) and free Wi-Fi access. The TAP Portugal Lounge is located on the third floor and opens from 3:30 am to 9:00 pm; it provides drinks, fax, printers, computers, snacks, TV, press, telephones, air conditioning (access with Priority Pass, DragonPass, Victoria Gold or Silver membership, executive or top executive class passengers from TAP Air Portugal, American Express Platinum cardholders, first or business class passengers from Star Alliance airlines, through online booking or by paying at the door - €20.00).

Bus - The Aerobus service from SAM (Tel +351 291 201 151) connects the enclosure with Funchal city centre (30 minutes) and with Praia Formosa (50 min.), from 8:30 am to 0:45 am. Tickets have a cost of €5.00 and the bus stops at Boa Nova, Campo da Barca, São João, Terminal SAM, Lido and Estrada Monumental. Taxi - The stands are found outside the Arrivals area, on level 0, and the official operator is AITRAM Táxi (Tel +351 291 765 760). The minimum fare is €4.00. Prices are higher between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am and on the weekends.

Access ramps, elevators, adapted toilets and designated parking spaces. Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs during their stay at the airport should inform their airline about their needs at least 48 hours in advance.
