Milan-Malpensa Airport, opened on November 21, 1948, is the most important in Italy for international flights and one of the busiest in Europe. It operates with domestic and international flights to destinations throughout Europe, Africa, America, the Middle East and Asia.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Terminals 1 (Concourses A, B, C) and 2 (Concourses, D, E), open 24 hours a day. Connected through a free shuttle that departs every 7 minutes (every 30 minutes from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am).

The airport is located 45 km (29 miles) northwest from Milan.

Bus - The Malpensa Shuttle (Tel  +39 025 858 3185) travels to Fiera Rho Pero in 30 minutes, to Milan central station every 20 min. from 5:00 am to 1:20 am, with a fare of €10.00 and a trip of 50 min., and to Linate airport in 1 hour and 30 min., with a cost of €13.00. To the city's central station there are also services every 20 min. from Terravision (Tel +39 069 761 0632), from 5:05 am to 0:10 am; and from STIE (Tel +39 033 151 9000), between 6:00 am and 0:30 am; both with a fare of €8.00. On the other hand, there are buses to different Italian and Swiss locations.

Train - Malpensa Express (Tel +39 027 249 4949) links the airport with Milan central station (50 minutes) and Piazza Cadorna (35 min.), with a cost of €13.00 and intermediate stops at Porta Garibaldi, Bovisa and Saronno. In addition, Trenitalia (Tel +39 892 021) provides services from Milan Gallarate Station to different locations throughout the country. Trenord (Tel +39 027 249 4949) offers journeys to Luino and Bellinzona in 2 hours and 15 min., with stops at Busto Arsizio Nord and Ferno/Lonate Pozzolo; there is also a special bus service to Busto Arsizio Station, from where line S5 runs to Treviglio, Trecella, Melzo, Vignate, Pioltello, Milan, Rho Fiera, Vanzago, Legnano, Gallarate and Varese Passante.

Taxi - Ranks are located outside gate 6 of Terminal 1 and gate 4 of Terminal 2. Fares: downtown Milan - €90.00; Fiera - €65.00; Linate airport - €100.00. The trip to the city centre takes 45-60 minutes. Car rental offices are found in the Arrival Halls. The airport has banks, ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, post office, VIP lounges, public telephones and Wi-Fi access free of charge. Malpensa Center, in the Arrivals level of Terminal 1, is a meeting room for hire.

Food and Drinks- There are several options throughout both terminals, including coffee shops, bars, fast food outlets, restaurants and pizza stores.
Shopping- Duty-free shops on the first floor of Terminal 1. In addition, there are retailers selling books, press, gifts, confectioneries, fashion and accessories, electronics, cosmetics.
Baggage- Secure luggage wrapping on the second floor of Terminal 1 and on the lower level of Terminal 2, from 4:00 am to 9:00 pm (Tel +39 033 172 301). Left luggage services in Arrivals Hall B of Terminal 1, from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm (Tel +39 027 486 7277). Lost and found offices in the baggage reclaim areas.

Inside the enclosure there are several parking options for short and long stays. Rates

P1 - Uncovered car park for long stays, 4 minutes away from Terminal 1.
P2 - Covered area with direct access to the check-in area.
P3 - Roofed spaces adjacent to Terminal 1.
P4 - Economy, outdoor lot.
P5 - Uncovered spaces 2 min. away from Terminal 2, with courtesy shuttles to the other building.

Reserved parking spaces, pathways for the visually-impaired, Braille signage, elevators, accesible restrooms are available. Inform your airline or travel agency about your particular needs at least 48 hours before your arrival. Unaccompanied minors between 4 and 14 years old will be escorted by the airline crew.

Inside Terminal 1 is located the Sheraton Milan Malpensa Airport Hotel & Conference Center (Tel +39 022 3351), while the MOXY Milan Malpensa Airport (Tel +39 029 475 7100) is situated directly opposite Terminal 2. Between both terminals are found the Holiday Inn Express Milan-Malpensa Airport (Tel +39 033 118 330) and the Crowne Plaza Milan Malpensa Airport (Tel +39 033 121 161). You can find several alternatives in the surroundings, some of them with shuttles to and from the airport.
