Catania airport (CTA)

Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, also known as Vincenzo Bellini Airport and opened on May, 1924, is the most important in the island of Sicily and one of the busiest in Italy. It operates with domestic and international flights to the main destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa.

Number of Terminals - 1 - Open from 4:00 am to 0:00 am.
Annual passenger traffic: More than 9.1 million passengers went through it during 2017.

The airport is located 4.5 km (2.8 miles) south from downtown Catania.

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureau (6:00 am to 10:00 pm), post office and VIP lounges. The larger hotels in the city centre have meeting and conference rooms.

Food and Drinks- Bars on the first floor and the lower level, restaurants in the Departures lounge.
Shopping- Duty-free items in the Departures area, jewellery, gifts, clothing, handicrafts, accessories, books, newsagents.

Bus - The AMT Alibus service (Tel +39 800 018 696) runs to the city centre and the train station every 20 minutes from 5:00 am to 0:00 am. Tickets have a cost of €4.00 and the trip takes 20 min. Intermediate stops include Faro Biscari, Tempio, Colombo, Borsellino Square, Duomo, Stesicoro. There are also services from different companies to several locations around the island.

Taxi - Cabs available outside the Arrivals area. Official operators are Social Taxi Catania (Tel +39 9533 0966) and Taxi SAT Service (Tel +39 956 188). Journey time to the city centre is around 10 minutes.

 
 

Although there is no accommodation inside the enclosure, the city is located very close, so you can find numerous hotels in the vicinity. Some of them have shuttles for the transfer of their guests. P1 & P2 - Car parks for short stays, of up to 12 and 24 hours, respectively.
P4 - For long-term parking, with exclusive spaces for motorcycles.

 
 

Reserved parking spaces are available, plus adapted restrooms and a team of trained staff to provide assistance through all required procedures. There are also special pathways for the visually-impaired and ambulifts to board and disembark from the airplane. Notify your airline about your needs before your flight. Children between 4 and 12 years old travelling alone will be escorted until boarding the aircraft and supervised during the flight. In the case of children between 4 months and 4 years old, an extra hostess must be booked.
