Santorini International Airport, also known as Thira Airport and opened in 1972, serves the tourist area of the island of Santorini (part of the Cyclades), in Greece. It operates with domestic and international flights (most of them during the summer season) to some important destinations in Europe and the Middle East.

The airport is situated to the east of the island, near the town of Kamari, 8 km (5 miles) southeast of the city of Thira.

Bus - From the airport, you can reach the city of Thira in just 15 minutes through KTEL buses (Tel +30 228 602 5404). The service operates several times a day between 7:20 am and 3:40 pm and has a cost of €1.80. From Thira leave buses to different destinations in the island, like Akrotiri, Baxedes, Kamari, Monolithos, Oia, Perissa, Vlihada and Vourvoulos.
On the other hand, Santorini Transport (Tel +30 698 463 7384) provides door-to-door transportation (private or shared) to any location in the island, including all local hotels. The trip to the city has a fare of €12.00.

Taxi - Ranks are located outside the terminal. The fare to downtown Thira is €15.00-20.00 and the trip takes 15 minutes. During the summer season the service is saturated and it will be difficult to find an empty cab, so it is advised to book one in advance (Tel +30 228 602 2860 / 2555).

The airport has ATMs, currency exchange bureau and free Wi-Fi access.

Food and Drinks- In the Departures area there are a few cafés.
Shopping- Duty-free and jewellery stores in the Departures Hall.
Baggage- For enquiries about missing or damaged luggage, head to the counter of the corresponding airline.
Other Services- First aid room.

 

There is an outdoor parking area opposite the terminal building.

 

The enclosure has basic facilities, such as adapted restrooms and wheelchairs by request. Passengers requiring special assistance are advised to contact their airline or travel agency at least 48 hours in advance.

 

Many hotels in the surroundings have shuttles for passenger transfer to and from the airport.
