Munich Airport, opened on May 17, 1992, is one of the busiest in Germany and Europe. It operates with different flights around the globe.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Terminals 1 and 2, open 24 hours a day. The Munich Airport Center is a shopping area connecting the two terminals.
Annual passenger traffic: Around 41 million passengers went through it in 2015.

The airport is located 29 km (18 miles) northeast from the city centre.

Bus - There are numerous services to surrounding cities, with stops in front of the central area. Autobus Oberbayern (Tel +49 8932 3040) operates the Lufthansa Airport Bus to Schwabing North and Munich main station every 15 minutes, between 6:30 am and 10:30 pm. Journey time is approximately 45 min. and the fare is €10.50. In addition, there are direct buses between the airport and the Messe München exhibition center every 30 min. from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Tickets cost €8.00 and the trip takes around 45 min. Train - Every 10 minutes, trains leave for the city centre from the station located between the terminals. Line S1 runs to Ostbahnhof and Munich central station, where you can board services to other locations in the area. Other stops include Neufahrn, Moosach, Laim and Marienplatz. Line S8 links the airport with Ismaning, Ostbahnhof, Isartor, Marienplatz, Karlsplatz/Stachus, Laim, Pasing, Herrsching and the main station. Travel time to downtown Munich is 40-45 min.

Taxi - Sedans and minibuses available on level 4 of Terminal 1, levels 3 and 4 of Terminal 2, and level 3 of the central area. The airport has banks, currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, postal, fax and copying services, VIP lounges, charging stations, internet kiosks, public telephones and Wi-Fi access free of charge. In the central area and the nearby hotels there are conference and meeting rooms.

Food and Drinks- Both terminals and the central area have numerous restaurants, coffee shops, fast food outlets and bars. The airport has its own brewery (Airbräu). Leysieffer and McDonald's, on level 3 of the central area, are open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Duty-free stores on the Departures level of the terminals. Other options include souvenirs, accessories, clothing, cosmetics, jewellery, electronics, flowers, press, books, toys, tobacco.
Baggage- Left luggage and lost and found office at the service center located on level 3 of Terminal 1, from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm (Tel +49 899 752 1470).
Other Services- Children's playgrounds, photo booth, casino, games room, medical clinic, baby changing facilities, pharmacies, travel agencies, showers, massage chairs, hairdresser's, spa, laundry.

P5, P7, P8 - Parking lots located underground opposite Terminal 1, for long stays.
P20 - Covered spaces next to Terminal 2.
P26 - Underground garage adjacent to the central area.
P41 - Remote sector with free buses.
P80, P81 - Areas away from the main building, connected through the train services.
P51 - Adjacent to the visitors park.
P35 - Directly across the general aviation terminal.


There are ramps, lifts, escalators, accessibles restrooms, Braille signage, tactile guidance systems, reserved parking spaces, special service counter in the check-in hall of Terminal 2, free wheelchairs at the information points. Notify your airline or travel agency about your particular needs at least 48 hours in advance.


On levels 4 and 5 of Terminal 2 there are private cabins from Napcabs (Tel +49 899 4389 4250). The Hilton Munich Airport (Tel +49 899 7820) is situated between the terminals, while the Novotel München Airport (Tel +49 899 705 130) is found inside the grounds.
