Cologne - Bonn airport (CGN)

Cologne-Bonn Airport, opened in 1938, is one of the busiest in the country. It operates with domestic flights, the main destinations in Europe and some locations in Africa and the Middle East.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Terminals 1 and 2. Open 24 hours a day and situated one next to the other.
Annual passenger traffic: 12.4 million passengers went through it in 2017.
Tel: +49 220 340 4001 / 4002. There is an information desk between concourses B and C, in Terminal 1, available around the clock. In addition, in Terminal 1 there is a visitor center (Tel +49 220 340 4388 / 4389) operating Mondays through Fridays between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Location

The airport is located 15 km (9.8 miles) southeast from Cologne and 16 km (10 miles) to the north of Bonn.

Bus - Line 161 from KVB (Tel +49 221 5470) runs to Grengel Mauspfad, Feuerwache and Porz Markt in 10-15 minutes, where you can board services to downtown Cologne. It operates from 5:18 am to 11:48 pm and fares start at €1.90.
On the other hand, SWB Bus und Bahn (Tel +49 180 650 4030) operates route SB60, that links the airport with Bertha-von-Suttner-Platz, Markt and Bonn central station every 30 min., Mondays through Fridays between 5:35 am and 0:45 am, weekends from 5:15 am to 0:45 am. Journey time is approximately 30 min. and the ticket costs €7.90.
There are also different private companies that offer long-distance transport: Regiojet (Tel +44 4208 4110 1101), Flixbus (Tel +49 303 0013 7300), Eurolines (Tel +49 221 9823 9660), Mango Tours (Tel +49 221 277 5940), Sindbad (Tel +48 774 434 444), SemiTimeS (Tel +49 894 1615 0399).

Train - Between both terminals there is a train station with services from Deutsche Bahn (Tel +49 180 699 6633). Line S19 travels to downtown Cologne in 15 minutes, with stops at Sindorf, Horrem, Lövenich, Porz-Wahn, Spich and Troisdorf. There are also express trains (RE6 and RE8) to Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Bochum, Dortmund, Bielefeld, Herford, Hannover, Wolfsburg and Berlin.

Taxi - Cabs from Taxi Ruf Köln (Tel +49 221 2882) outside both terminals. The trip to downtown Bonn has a cost of €40.00, while the fare to Cologne is €27.00. In both cases, travel time is 15 minutes.

P1 - Multi-storey facility across from Terminal 1, with spaces for short stays on level 0.
P2 - Next to Terminal 2. Short-term parking on level 6.
P3 - Located 350 meters away from Terminal 2.
P32 - Short-term area adjacent to the arrivals level of Terminal 2.
Car Park Nord - For long stays and large vehicles, 150 meters away from Terminal 2.

 

Inside the enclosure there are elevators, adapted toilets and accessible telephones. There are also designated spaces inside the car parks. Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs are advised to make the appropriate arrangements with their airline at the time of their booking. An ambulift is available to board the airplanes. Children travelling alone will be escorted from the security control to the departure gates, or from the baggage reclaim area to the exit.
