Brussels Airport, also known as Zaventem Airport and opened on May 30, 1958, is the largest in Belgium and one of the busiest in the continent. It operates with destinations inside Europe, Africa, North America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Asia.

The airport is located in the city of Zaventem, 12 km (8 miles) northeast from Brussels.

The airport has currency exchange bureaus (6:00 am to 10:00 pm), ATMs, post office, VIP lounges, mobile phone and fax services, workstations and free Wi-Fi access. The Regus Skyport Meeting Center, on the fourth floor of the terminal, has conference rooms, as well as the Sheraton Brussels Airport Hotel, in front of the main building.

Food and Drinks- Restaurants, bars, fast food outlets and coffee shops throughout the terminal.
Shopping- Duty-free shop in Pier A. There are also retailers selling jewellery, souvenirs, apparel, cosmetics, alcoholic beverages, accessories, sweets.
Baggage- Luggage trolleys available for free in the baggage reclaim area and in the car parks in front of the terminal. Porter service from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm (Tel +32 2753 2211). Lockers on level 0 and the shopping area. Secure wrapping on the Departures level, from 4:30 am to 10:00 pm. For enquiries about lost property, contact the airport's information desk.
Other Services- Children's play areas, baby changing facilities, gas stations, pharmacy, medical emergencies clinic, meditation rooms, hairdresser's, smoking lounges, travel agency.


Bus - The station is located on level 0, beneath the Arrivals Hall. De Lijn (Tel +32 7022 0200) operates numerous services to the city and the surroundings, with a fare of €3.00. Journey time to downtown Brussels is 45 minutes.
The Airport Line bus (lines 12 and 21) from MIVB/STIB (Tel +32 7023 2000) is an express service between the airport and the European district, in the city centre, with a trip of 30 min. Tickets can be acquired at vending machines (€4.50) or from the driver (€6.00).
Airport Express (Tel +32 5233 4000) travels several times a day to Crowne Plaza and Koningin Astridplein, near Antwerp central station, in about 45 min., with a fare of €10.00.
Flixbus (Tel +49 303 0013 7300) operates night line N803 to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels, Lille and Paris.
Ouibus (Tel +33 969 323 348) leaves to Lille (€13.00) at 9:00 am, 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm, with a journey time of 2 hours and 15 min.
TOC-TOC (Tel +33 2019 5189) provides minibuses to Northern France.

Train - On level -1 is located the airport station. Belgian Railways (Tel +32 2528 2828 / 7079 7979) provides trains to the three stations in Brussels (Brussels North, Brussels Central, Brussels Midi). Travel time to the city centre is 17 minutes and the fare is €8.80. There are also direct trains to Antwerp, Bruges, Charleroi, Ghent, Liege, Leuven, Mechelen, Namur and Ottignies. The airport is also connected to the main Dutch cities, such as Amsterdam, Dordrecht, Rotterdam and The Hague.

Taxi - Opposite the Arrivals Hall there are vehicles around the clock. The fare to the city centre is around €45.00 and the trip takes 20-30 minutes. Official cabs have blue and yellow emblems.

There are many other accommodations nearby, most of which provide courtesy transport for their guests. P1, P2, P3 - Car parks directly in front of the terminal. The first 30 minutes have no charge.
P4, Discount Parking, Car Hotel - Remote areas with covered and outdoor spaces, connected to the terminal every 15 minutes through a complimentary shuttle service.


Facilities include ramps, lifts, escalators, moving walkways, wide automatic doors, contrasting strips for signalling, wheelchairs free of charge, reserved parking spaces. The special assistance reception desk is found in the Departures Hall. Inform your airline or travel agent about your needs 48 hours in advance. Unaccompanied minors will be escorted and supervised during their flight by the crew of the corresponding airline.
