Vienna International Airport, also known as Schwechat Airport and opened in 1938, is one of the largest in Europe and one of the fastest growing in terms of traffic, and therefore it is under constant expansion. It operates with flights to European countries, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, North America and the Caribbean.

Number of Terminals - 4 - Terminals 1, 1A, 2 (it is currently closed, pending refurbishment.) and 3, open 24 hours a day. They are located inside the same building, except 1A, which is situated in front of Terminal 1 and connected through a walkway.
Airlines: TERMINAL 1 (Air Berlin, Nikki and SkyTeam airlines Group), TERMINAL 1A (most of the low cost carriers), TERMINAL 3 (It is used by the Austrian Airlines Group, most Star Alliance members, and other carriers including Emirates, El Al and Qatar Airways)
Annual passenger traffic: 23.35 million passengers went through it in 2016.

The airport is located 18 km (11 miles) to the southeast of the city.

Bus - There are services from Postbus (Tel +43 51717) outside the Arrivals level, with a fare of €8.00. Line 1183 - to Donauzentrum (40-minute trip) via Krieau, Kaisermühlen and Julius-Payer-Gasse, between 7:10 am and 8:10 pm; 1185 - Morzinplatz and Schwedenplatz, in the city centre, every 30 min., with a trip of 20 min.; 1187 - Westbahnhof in 40 min., from 6:05 am to 0:05 am; 1171 - Fischamend, Wienerherberg, Moosbrunn, Münchendorf (50 min.); 1172 - Fischamend, Enzersdorf, Karsldorf, Gramatneusiedl, Mitterndorf, Unterwaltersdorf, Ebreichsdorf (73 min.); 1174 - Fischamend, Göttlesbrunn, Bruck/Leitha, Parndorf, Neusiedl (70 min.) AirLiner (Tel +43 900 128 712) operates buses to Erdberg (15 min.; €5.00) from 5:30 am to 10:30 pm, while Flixbus (Tel +43 820 910 340) runs to Pinggau and Graz (2 hours and 40 min.; €22.00). On the other hand, international buses leave from the airport to Bratislava, Prešov, Košice, Budapest, Györ, Munich, Prague, Brno, Znojmo and Bohumin.

Train - The City Airport Train (Tel +43 125 250) operates between 6:09 am and 11:39 pm and connects the airport with Wien Mitte station, in the city centre. The journey takes 16 minutes and tickets cost €12.00. Line S7 goes to Wien Mitte in about 25 min. with a fare of €3.90, and there are also trains to Linz, Salzburg and St. Pölten. Taxi - Cabs available outside the central Arrivals Hall. The airport has banks, currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, VIP lounges, charging and workstations, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access. Inside the terminals and the NH Wien Airport Hotel, located inside the grounds, there are conference rooms.

Food and Drinks- Throughout the enclosure there are coffee shops, fast food outlets, bars and restaurants. Café+Co Bar, McCafé and McDonald's are open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Duty-free shops on levels 1 and 3 of the terminals, in addition to retailers selling fashion and accessories, souvenirs, liquor, press, books, sweets, perfumes, cosmetics, jewellery, tobacco, toys, electronics.
Baggage- Porter services and trolleys available. Luggage storage and secure wrapping on level 1 of terminals 1 and 3. The lost and found office is located on the ground floor of Terminal 1; it operates from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 12:45 pm to 5:00 pm.
Other Services- Children's play areas, baby care facilities, medical center, prayer rooms, pharmacy, smoking lounges.

 

There are six parking lots inside the grounds, mainly connected to the terminals through covered walkways. Rates

P4 - Garage located near Terminal 3.
C - Outdoor area in front of the office parks.
K1, K4 - For passenger drop-off, across from the Departures level.
K3 - Reserved for people pick-up, opposite the Arrivals level.

 

If you should require special assistance during your stay, contact your airline at least 48 hours in advance. There are designated parking spaces and minibuses equipped for passenger transport to the aircraft, in addition to lifts, adapted telephones and accessible toilets.
