Panama City airport (PTY)

Tocumen International Airport, opened on June 1, 1947, serves Panama City and is the main air terminal in the country. In addition to domestic flights, it operates with international destinations throughout the American Continent and the main locations in Europe.

The airport is located 17 km (10.5 miles) to the northeast of Panama City.

Bus - There are several metro bus services that stop approximately every 5 minutes on the road opposite the airport. They operate between 4:00 am and 8:00 pm and cost USD0.25 to any destination (you need to acquire a pre-paid card inside the enclosure). They run to Tocumen, 24 de Diciembre, Paso Blanco, Felipillo, Pacora and Chepo, and journey time to downtown Panama City is 1 hour.
On the other hand, the Panama tourist authority offers free transfers every 30-60 minutes to and from the Metromall shopping centre, about 15 min. away from the grounds. They operate Mondays through Fridays between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm and Sundays from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. More information: Tel +507 238 3734.

Taxi - In the Arrivals area there is a tourist taxi service (the only cabs you can board at the enclosure) with fixed fares. Vehicles can be private or shared. The trip to the city centre takes approximately 30 minutes and costs USD30.00.

The airport has ATMs, bank, currency exchange bureaus, VIP lounges, charging stations, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access for 2 hours.

Food and Drinks- The terminal has coffee shops, fast food outlets and restaurants.
Shopping- Duty-free stores in the Departures area, souvenirs, electronics, cosmetics, perfumes, clothing, liquor, tobacco, jewellery, accessories, handicrafts, sweets, books and magazines.
Baggage- Left luggage service in the Customs area. The lost and found office is situated on the ground floor and operates from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (Tel +507 238 2938).

The enclosure has an uncovered parking lot opposite the passenger terminal. Fees


Facilities include ramps, lifts, adapted restrooms, Braille signage and reserved parking spaces. Passengers requiring special assistance should contact their airline before their flight.
