Passenger guide - Chiang Mai airport (CNX) 


Chiang Mai International Airport, opened in 1921, is one of the busiest in Thailand. In addition to domestic flights, it operates with international destinations in Southeast Asia and the Far East.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Domestic Terminal and International Terminal, open 24 hours a day and located next to each other.
Annual passenger traffic: More than 9.4 million passengers went through it in 2016.

Chiang Mai airport is located 4 km (2.5 miles) to the south of the city centre.

Bus - Lines 4 and 9 travel to the city centre every 20 minutes. There are transportation counters on the upper floor of the terminals, opposite the Arrivals Halls, where you can ask for information regarding schedules and routes.

Taxi - Cabs available outside the terminals. There are counters in the Arrivals Halls where you can pay the fare in advance. A trip to downtown Chiang Mai takes around 10-15 minutes.


Avis (Tel +66 2251 1131 / 2251 1132 / 084 700 8157), Hertz (Tel +66 2266 5070 / 085 917 9903 / 086 779 5456) and Thai Rent A Car (Tel +66 053 281 345) have offices on the first floor of the Domestic Terminal. They operate 24 hours a day.


The airport has currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, postal services, VIP rooms, mobile phone service, charging stations, public telephones and Wi-Fi access free of charge for 2 hours.

Food and Drinks- On the ground floor and level 2 of the terminals there are restaurants, fast food outlets, coffee shops, bakeries and ice-cream stores. Ninety-Four Coffee, Black Canyon Coffee and Dairy Queen open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- There is a duty-free shop on the second floor of the International Terminal. There are also convenience stores, a bookstore, souvenir stands, fashion and accessories.
Baggage- Left luggage service on the first floor (Tel +66 5327 3225 / 081 960 6937). For enquiries about lost property, contact the nearest information desk.
Other Services- First aid clinic, prayer room, smoking lounge, spas, pharmacies.


An outdoor area for short- and long-term parking is available in front of the terminals. The first 8 minutes of stay are free. Fees


Facilities include elevators, adapted toilets and telephones, and reserved parking spaces. If you should require special assistance, inform your airline about your particular needs in advance. Children between 8 and 11 years old travelling alone will be escorted by the crew from the air company through the different controls.
