Singapore airport (SIN) 

 

Singapore Changi Airport, opened on July 1, 1981, is the largest in Southeast Asia and one of the busiest in Asia. It is also considered one of the best in the world. It operates with international flights to numerous destinations throughout the globe.

Number of Terminals - 3 - Terminals 1, 2 and 3, open 24 hours a day. The free Skytrain connects the terminals between 5:00 am and 2:30 am, with 2-minute intervals. Outside these hours there are courtesy shuttles that leave every 15 min. The transit areas are also linked through travellators.
Annual passenger traffic: Around 58.7 million passengers went through it in 2016.

The airport is located 20 km (13 miles) to the east of Singapore.

Bus - WTS Travel (Tel +65 6543 1985 / 6546 1646 / 6241 3818) operates a shuttle between the airport and most downtown hotels every 15-30 minutes. Journey time is approximately 25 min. From Monday to Friday between 11:30 am and 2:30 pm there are also shuttles to Changi Business Park (Tel +65 6559 8959). Lines 36 and 36A from Go-Ahead Singapore (Tel +65 6812 6458) run to the city from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, with a trip of 1 hour. They leave from the basement of the terminals and stop at Lagoon View, Laguna Park, Mandarin Gardens, Tao Nan, Amber Garden, Esplanade, Somerset, Tang Plaza, Dhoby Ghaut, Suntec Convention Centre. Transtar Travel (Tel +65 6297 9009) provides transportation to Larkin Terminal, in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, from 8:15 am to 11:15 pm. A company desk can be found in the Arrivals Hall of Terminal 2.

Train - The SMRT station (Tel 1800 336 8900) is located beneath terminals 2 and 3. To get to the city, passengers must transfer to the westbound train at Tanah Merah. The last train service which would allow that transfer is scheduled at 11:18 pm. Other stops include Simei, Tampines, Pasir Ris, Bedok, Kembangan, Eunos, Paya Labar, Aljunied, Kallang, Lavender, Bugis, City Hall, Tanjong Pagar, Tiong Bahru, Redhill, Queenstown, Dover, Clementi, Jurong East, Boon Lay, Joo Koon. It takes about 35 minutes to reach the city centre.

Taxi - Ranks are found on the Arrivals level of each terminal. Travel time to central Singapore is about 30 minutes. Cabs (regular or premium) have meters and surcharges are applied between 0:00 am and 6:00 am. Available operators include Citycab (Tel +65 6552 1111), Premier Taxi (Tel +65 6363 6888), Prime Taxi (Tel +65 6778 0808), SMRT Taxi (Tel +65 6555 8888) and Transcab (Tel +65 6555 3333).

There are car rental desks from companies Avis (Tel +65 6545 0800 / 6542 8855 / 6447 9011), Budget (Tel +65 6214 9057 / 6543 9114 / 6441 0764) and Hertz (Tel +65 6542 5300 / 6446 7211) in the Arrivals areas. They operate from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm.

The airport has currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, post offices, VIP lounges, mobile phone services, charging stations, public telephones, internet kiosks and free Wi-Fi access. Each terminal has a business center with fax and copying machines. Meeting rooms at the Crowne Plaza hotel, adjacent to Terminal 3.

Food and Drinks- There is a wide range of places to eat, with coffee shops, bars, fast food outlets, bakeries and Western and Eastern restaurants. Many of them are open 24 hours a day.
Shopping- Options include duty-free articles and convenience stores in all three terminals, electronics, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, cosmetics, perfumes, clothing, accessories, footwear, jewellery, books, newspapers and magazines, gifts, sweets.
Baggage- Porter services in the public areas of the terminals (Tel +65 9179 4836 / 9117 6311 / 9618 1488). Luggage storage available around the clock: Terminal 1 - levels 2 and 3 (Tel +65 6214 0318), Terminal 2 - levels 1 and 2 (Tel +65 6214 1683 / 0448), Terminal 3 - level 1 and transit area (Tel +65 6242 8936 / 6214 0672). Lost and found office in the baggage reclaim area (Tel +65 6597 4500).

Facilities include elevators, ramps and accessible toilets. Wheelchairs can be requested at the medical centers (Tel +65 6543 1118). Passengers requiring special assistance should inform their airline prior to their travel. Children below 12 years old travelling alone will be escorted by personnel from the corresponding air company.

The Aerotel Transit Hotel (Tel +65 6808 2388) is found on level 3 of Terminal 1, while inside terminals 2 and 3 is situated the Ambassador Transit Hotel (Tel +65 6542 8122 / 6507 9788). The Crowne Plaza Changi Airport (Tel +65 6823 5300) is connected to Terminal 3 through a covered walkway. There are reservations desks in the Arrivals Hall of all terminals.
