Passenger guide - Kathmandu airport (KTM) 


Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, opened on June 15, 1955, connects Nepal with the rest of the world, since the rest of the country's airstations only operate with domestic flights. Nevertheless, a new international airport is projected for 2019 (Nijgadh International Airport). It operates with domestic flights and several destinations in Southeast Asia, the Far East and the Middle East.

Number of Terminals - 2 - International Terminal and Domestic Terminal, open from 6:30 am to 0:30 am.
Annual passenger traffic: More than 3.2 million passengers went through it in 2015.

The airport is situated 6 km (3.7 miles) to the east of the city of Kathmandu.

Bus - The public bus company Sajha Yatayat (Tel +977 1555 2686) operates line 2 to the city, with a frequency of 15-30 minutes. The route runs through Tilganga, Gaushala, Ratopul, Jain Bhawan, Dilli Bazar, Bag Bazar, Purano Buspark, Sahid Gate, Jamal, Lainchaour, Thamel Chowk, Sorhakhutte, Naya Bazar, Balaju Chowk, Banasthali and Balaju Baipas. Taxi - There is a stand next to the Arrivals gate where you can book pre-paid services and fares are displayed. At the same time, there are cabs at the parking area and stops over the road leaving the airport. The trip to the city centre takes 10-15 minutes.


Sixt (Tel +977 1446 6655) offers car rental services at the airport from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.


The airport has a bank, currency exchange bureaus, post office, press rooms, public telephones and Wi-Fi access free of charge. On the first floor there are two conference rooms. On the other hand, the Executive Lounge is located on the second floor of the International Terminal and opens from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm; it provides a smoking area, computers, air conditioning, newspapers and magazines, telephones, Wi-Fi, TV, snacks, drinks, conference facilities, fax.

Food and Drinks- Bar on the ground floor and restaurant on the first level.
Shopping- Souvenir stands and stores selling local goods are available. Duty-free items on level 1.
Baggage- Luggage trolleys available for free. Secure wrapping on the ground floor. In case of missing belongings, contact Tel +977 1411 3033 or notify a staff member.

Across from the terminal building there are parking spaces for short and long stays.


The enclosure has ramps, adapted toilets, lifts and escalators. If the passenger should require special services, he/she should contact their air company in advance.
