Kuala Lumpur International Airport, opened on June 27, 1998, is Malaysia's largest airport and one of the busiest in Asia. It operates with domestic and international flights throughout Asia and some destinations in Europe, Oceania, the Middle East and Africa.

Number of Terminals - 2 - KLIA1 (regular flights) and KLIA2 (low-cost flights). Open 24 hours a day and connected through a free shuttle service that must be booked in advance (only for passengers with interconnecting flights).
Annual passenger traffic: More than 58.5 million passengers went through it in 2017.

The airport is located in the Sepang district, Selangor State, 50 km (31 miles) to the south of Kuala Lumpur.

The airport has a bank (7:30 am to 10:30 pm), currency exchange bureaus, ATMs, post office, VIP lounges, mobile phone services, public telephones, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access free of charge for 3 hours. The Sama Sama Express Hotel, situated inside the enclosure, offers meeting rooms and business services.

Food and Drinks- A wide range of coffee shops, bars, restaurants, fast food outlets, bakeries and confectioneries is available.
Shopping- Options include duty-free shops in the Departures areas, convenience stores on levels 1, 2 and 3 of KLIA1, fashion and accessories, liquor, tobacco, perfumes, cosmetics, books, magazines, newspapers, souvenirs, electronics, jewellery, toys, handicrafts.
Baggage- Free trolleys throughout the enclosure. Secure luggage wrapping on level 3. Lockers and left luggage services around the clock on level 3 of KLIA1 (Tel +603 8776 5035) and on level 2 of KLIA2 (Tel +603 8775 2667). Lost and found office on level 2 of the main building (Tel +603 8776 4312 / 2000).
Other Services- Baby changing facilities, spa, massage chairs, medical clinics, pharmacies, TV lounges, children's play areas, prayer rooms, smoking lounges.

 
 

Bus - Airport Coach (Tel +603 8787 3894) operates an express bus to KL Sentral Train Station between 6:30 am and 0:30 am, with a journey time of around an hour. It leaves from the ground floor of block C, at the short-term car park. There are also services connecting both terminals in 30 minutes and then head for Muar and Batu Pahat from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm.
Airport Liner (Tel +606 799 6259) travels to KLIA2, Nilai, Desa Jasmine, Desa Cempaka, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi and Kota Warisan.
City Liner (Tel +606 794 1494) runs to KLIA2, Seremban, Nilai and Banting.
Sepang Omnibus (Tel +601 6296 5332) connects the enclosure with Banting, Nilai and Bukit Changgang.
Buses from Star Shuttle (Tel +603 4043 8811 / +601 2969 0636 / +601 7250 3377) are available to KL Sentral, Pudu Raya, Jalan Ipoh, Medan Gopeng, Bercham, Bidor, Teluk Intan, Sitiawan and several hotels in the city centre.
Different services depart from KLIA2: Aerobus (Tel +603 6189 2711 / 6185 2712) to KL Sentral and Genting Highlands; Jetbus (Tel +601 9221 6763) to Bersepadu Selatan; Skybus (Tel +601 6217 6950 / 8496) to KL Sentral and Utama; Plusliner (Tel +603 4047 7878) to Ipoh and Shah Alam; Transnasional (Tel +603 4047 7878) to Malacca.

Train - Services link the airport with the city centre, stopping at Kuala Lumpur City Air Terminal. The KLIA Ekspres is a direct, non-stop train that takes 28 minutes. KLIA Transit makes intermediate stops at Bandar Tasik Selatan, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Salak Tinggi, and reaches the central station (39 min.) They depart every 15-30 min. between 5:00 am and 1:00 am. The stations are located on level 1 of both terminals. More information: Tel +603 2267 8000.

Taxi - Airport Limo (Tel +603 8787 3678) provides taxis outside the Arrivals area of KLIA1 and inside the transportation hub of KLIA2. There are four different types: budget, premium, luxury and family vans (for up to 8 passengers). They operate through coupons that must be acquired at the counters located in the Arrivals Hall. There are also metered vehicles on levels 1 and 3 of the main building. Journey time to the city centre is 1 hour.

On the mezzanine level of the satellite building is situated the Sama-Sama Express (Tel +603 8787 4848), with another facility inside the satellite building of KLIA2 (Tel +603 8775 6600). The Capsule by Container Hotel (Tel +603 7610 2020) is found on level 1 of KLIA2. On the other hand, there are hotels that are connected to the enclosure through covered walkways, such as the Sama-Sama Hotel (Tel +603 8787 3333) and the Tune Hotel (Tel +601 8787 1720). Other accommodations provide transfers to and from the airport. Near KLIA1 there are three 7-storey blocks (B, C & D) for short stays, with bays for motorcycles, and a long-term parking lot (LTCP) with a free shuttle service. Facilities include ramps, elevators, travellators, Braille signage, tactile surfaces, vehicles for people transport, adapted restrooms, accessible telephones and reserved parking spaces. Passengers requiring special assistance or wheelchairs during their stay at the airport should inform their airline about their particular needs prior to their arrival.
