Chubu Centrair International Airport, also known as Central Japan Airport and opened on February 17, 2005, stands on an artificial island and serves the urban area of Nagoya. It is one of Japan's busiest airports and one of the most modern in the world. It operates with some domestic flights and many international destinations in China, South Korea, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the United States.

The airport is based on an artificial island in Ise Bay, linked to the coast by a bridge and located 35 km (22 miles) to the south of Nagoya.

The airport has a bank (Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm), ATMs, currency exchange bureaus (6:00 am to 11:30 pm), postal and mobile phone services, VIP lounges, charging stations, public telephones, internet kiosks and free Wi-Fi access. On the third floor of the terminal there are meeting and conference rooms for hire.

Food and Drinks- There are many restaurants with Eastern and Western cuisine, cafés, bars and fast food outlets, especially on the fourth floor.
- Duty-free articles in the International Departures area of floor 3, convenience stores on the first floor and the Access Plaza, gifts, electronics, accessories, clothing, toys, books, sweets, jewellery, local goods.
Baggage- Carts inside the terminal, the car parks and the train station. Secure luggage wrapping on the third floor, from 6:30 am to 9:30 pm. Lockers on all floors and left luggage service on the Arrivals (7:00 am to 10:00 pm) and Departures (6:30 am to 9:30 pm) levels. Other Services- Medical center, gas station, relaxing Japanese bath, massage chairs, baby care facilities, children's play areas, prayer rooms, smoking sectors, changing rooms, laundry, photo booth, spa, pharmacy.


Bus - Services depart from the first floor of the terminal. An airport bus, Centrair Limousine, runs to the Sakae and Fushimi area, downtown Nagoya and Meitetsu Station, with stops at several major hotels. It operates from 9:15 am to 10:15 pm.
There are also services provided by different companies to several destinations in the region: Sakae/Meitetsu, Fujigaoka, Chita-Handa, Toyota-shi, Okazaki, Chiryu, Toyokawa, Shinsho Shako, Kuwana, Hamamatsu, Iwata, Kakegawa. The trip to the city centre takes from 48 to 85 minutes.
The Airport Liner service connects the enclosure with Nagoya West Gate Station during the night, with a travel time of 55 min. In addition, a free bus is available to Aeon Mall (15 min.) and there are express services to Kyoto, with a trip of 2 hours and 40 min.
Tsubame Airport Limousine (Tel +81 526 048 183) provides transportation 24 hours a day in shared minibuses to tourist locations in Nagoya, Kyoto, Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Ise, Matsumoto, Gero, Hakuba, Tateshina, Takayama/Shirakawa-go, Kanazawa and Nagahama/Maibara.

Train - The u-Sky Limited Express connects the airport with the city in 28 minutes, with departures every 15 min. from 5:24 am to 11:31 pm. At the Nagoya, Kanayama and Jingu-mae stations you can make connections with the Shinkansen (bullet train), the metro and the JR, Kintetsu and Aonami lines. The airport station is linked directly to the Access Plaza.

Ferry - There are high-speed boats that travel daily to Tsu (45 min.) from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, where you can also board an express bus to Kintetsu Iseshi Station and Toba. The boarding point is found 15 minutes away from the Access Plaza.

Taxi - Ranks are located on the first floor and the information desk is situated on the second level. Available companies are Meitetsu Chita Taxi (Tel +81 569 371 112), Anzen Taxi (Tel +81 569 210 685), Chita Tsubame Taxi (Tel +81 526 048 183) and Shachi Dai-Ichi Kotsu (Tel +81 526 042 323). There are also Noriai taxis, shared minibuses, provided by Alpico Taxi (Tel +81 263 870 555), that run to the Ishikawa and Nagano prefectures.

Facilities include adapted restrooms, wide elevators, Braille signage, textured paving blocks, accessible drinking fountains, ramps and reserved spaces on the first floor of the multi-level car parks.
