Kolkata Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, opened in 1924, is one of India's busiest. It operates with domestic and international flights to destinations in Asia and the Middle East.

The airport is located 17 km (11 miles) to the northeast of Kolkata city center.

Bus - West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (Tel +91 332 511 8238) operates buses between the airport and several destinations in the city at regular intervals, from 8:00 am to 9:30 pm. There is a company counter on the Arrivals level. Line VS1 travels to Esplanade (75 minutes), VS2 to Howrah (80 min.), VS8 to Garia (90 min.), V1 to Tollygune (90 min.), and V2 to Satragachi via Exide (115 min.) Schedules and fares

Train - The enclosure is connected to the Kolkata Suburban Railway system (Tel +91 971 763 0982). This links the airport's Biman Bandar Station with Dumdum, Majerhat and Sealdah. It operates between 6:35 am and 10:27 pm. Journey time to the city centre is 15-30 minutes. More information

Taxi - Pre-paid vehicles from Yellow Taxi (Tel +91 332 511 1201) and radio-taxi services from Mega Cabs (Tel +91 334 141 4141) are available around the clock. Reservation desks are located on the Arrivals level, between gates 3 and 4. The trip to the city centre takes 40-120 minutes, depending on traffic.


Wenz International (Tel +91 332 570 7979) operates a car rental counter on the Arrivals level, open 24 hours a day.


The airport has a currency exchange bureau, ATMs, post office, VIP lounges, mobile phone services, public telephones and free Wi-Fi access for 30 minutes.

Food and Drinks- Both on the Arrivals and Departures levels there are bars, coffee shops, restaurants, confectioneries and fast food outlets.
Shopping- Duty-free shops on the Arrivals and Departures level of the international sector, flowers, clothing, accessories, handicrafts, footwear, jewellery.
Baggage- Trolleys available for free. Secure luggage wrapping in the international check-in area. 24-hour left luggage service on the Departures and Arrivals levels, near gate 3C (Tel +91 332 569 1011). Lost and found office open around the clock on the lower Departures level (Tel +91 332 511 8036).
Other Services- Baby changing facilities, prayer room, medical clinics, smoking lounge, pharmacy, spa.


There are short- and long-term options available. Parking facilities at the airport are currently undergoing changes.


There are only basic facilities for disabled passengers, such as wheelchairs and elevators. Passengers requiring additional assistance are advised to contact their airline before travelling.
