Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, opened on May, 1923, is one of the largest in China. It concentrates the city's domestic flights and only operates with some international destinations in Japan and South Korea.

Number of Terminals - 2 - Terminal 1 (international flights) and Terminal 2 (domestic flights). Open from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm. A free shuttle service connects both terminals every 30 minutes between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm.

Avis (Tel +86 216 070 8600 - 8:00 am to 8:00 pm) and Hertz (Tel +86 139 1827 4115 - 6:00 am to 0:00 am) have offices in Terminal 2.
Bus - Regular public services are available to different destinations in the city. Line 806 - travels to Lupu Bridge; 807 - to Qingjian Xincun; 176 - to West Tianshan and Fuquan; 941 - goes to Shanghai Railway Station; 18 - Hechuan, Hongquan, Jinhui and Baole. They operate from 5:30 am to 11:00 pm. Bus 316 runs to The Bund and East Yan’an between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am. The Hongqiao Hub 1 goes to Hongqiao Traffic Hub West Center; the Hongqiao Hub 4 heads for Zizhu Science Park, while the Hongqiao Hub 9 goes to Jiading Station. Airport Line 1 connects the enclosure with Pudong Airport from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. There is also a night bus to Jing'an Temple, People's Square and Lujiazui that operates from 10:30 pm until 45 minutes after the last flight.
Metro - Lines 2 and 10 link the airport with the city centre in around 35 minutes. Line 2 travels to East Xujing, Hongqiao Train Station and Pudong Airport, via Guanglan Road, Beixinjing, Jing'an Temple, People's Square, Lujiazui, Tangzhen and Chuansha. It departs from 5:35 am to 11:45 pm and does not reach Terminal 1. Line 10 runs to Hongqiao Railway Station and Xinjiangwancheng, with intermediate stops in Longbai Xincun, Jiaotong University, Xintiandi, Laoximen, Youdian Xincun and Wujiaochang. Taxi - Cabs available outside the Arrivals level of the terminals. The trip to the city centre takes 25-40 minutes. It is recommended to have the destination written in Chinese or marked on a map.
The Shanghai International Airport Hotel (Tel +86 216 268 8866) and the Argyle International Airport Hotel Shanghai (Tel +86 216 268 7788) are located next to Terminal 1, while the Boyue Shanghai Hongqiao Airport Hotel (Tel +86 212 236 6666) is situated inside Terminal 2. Most alternatives nearby are found in the city centre.
