Murtala Muhammed International Airport, opened in 1947, is the busiest in Nigeria, serving most of the country. It operates with domestic flights and international destinations in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and North America. At present, it is one of the largest and most modern in the continent.

Number of Terminals - 2 - International Terminal (MMA1) and Domestic Terminal (MMA2), open 24 hours a day and located within walking distance of each other.
Annual passenger traffic: More than 6.3 million passengers went through it in 2017.

The airport is located in Ikeja, 22 km (14 miles) northwest from Lagos.

In the Arrivals Hall E there is a desk from Hertz (Tel +234 803 326 5105) that operates from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm. On the other hand, Sixt (Tel +234 1295 2832) does not have offices inside the enclosure, but they offer car hire services from the vicinity between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

The airport has a bank (Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm), ATMs, post office and VIP lounges. Meeting and conference facilities at the nearby Sheraton Lagos Hotel.

Food and Drinks- There are some restaurants and bars scattered throughout the enclosure.
Shopping- Duty-free stores are available in the International Terminal.
Baggage- Enquiries about lost luggage should be directed to the offices of the corresponding airline.
Other Services- First aid room, baby changing facilities.


Taxi - Official cabs are painted yellow and ranks are located outside the Arrivals and Departures areas. The journey to the city centre takes between 30 and 60 minutes. Agree on a fare with the driver before setting off.

There is a multi-storey car park for short stays, connected to the Domestic Terminal through a corridor.


Facilities are basic, therefore it is advised to inform your airline about any special needs before travelling.
